5 Tips for Ordering Online Printing

Before you order anything from an online printing company, here are five questions you need to answer.

Is the printing company reliable?

Before you do anything else, you need to find out if the company is reputable. Of course, every company will have some bad reviews, but you should think twice before ordering from a company where the majority of reviews are negative or even a company with no reviews at all. No one wants to hand out illegible flyers or reach their big corporate meeting with no printouts at all.

Does the design fit my needs?

The design should match the company’s goals. In other words, an investment broker and a party planner should not use the same business cards. Some companies only have some preset designs and text layouts to choose from, while others encourage you to design your own printout, using preset layouts, colors, and graphics. For a small upgrade fee, a few companies allow you to create your own design from scratch. Whatever design you use, it should reflect your company’s goals and the specific nature of the prints.

Will the paper type be appropriate?

The paper types available can be very confusing for the first time purchaser. What happened to ordinary, plain white paper? Actually, the options can be very helpful. Glossy papers attract more attention, while textured papers are usually viewed as high quality. Similarly, heavy weight papers or card stock will be more durable, so they are often used for cover papers and business cards.

Will the prints arrive on time?

In some situations, the arrival time is of utmost importance. When papers are printed for an important meeting or a new supply of letterheads is needed immediately, you must pay careful attention to the shipping. Different companies may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks depending on the order size and type. You may also want to ascertain how your papers will be shipped. Some companies allow tracking to determine exactly where your delivery is.

Is the printing cost affordable?

Printing costs will vary greatly depending on what upgrades you have selected. Special designs, textured paper, foil stamping or embossing will all add to the price. Expediting shipping can also add a lot to the original cost. While online printing is usually much cheaper than going to a local shop, customers occasionally find it cheaper to order in person if the prints are needed immediately. However, if ordered early enough, ordering from an online printing company is a great idea, and will feel even greater when the finished product is delivered to your door, ready to go.
